June 1st is the date for this year’s Lake Clean-up Day. We sure hope to see you there. We will be at Adam Fields AF Wake at the south end of Eaton Ferry Bridge and Washburn Marina in Henrico from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1. Both locations will be staffed to help you empty your trash into the dumpsters donated by Waste Industries.
So get out and clean-up the yard, flower beds, etc. Oh, don’t forget the shorelines….it is surprising what floats in during the winter. If you have anything too big to handle, please give us a call and we’ll make arrangements to have it picked up.
The Lake Gaston Striper Club has been helping by cleaning up the islands on Lake Gaston. Others helping are the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 93, who will be on hand for emergencies, the FABS and Lake Gaston Water Safety Council. The roads around the lake have been cleaned up by various volunteer groups as well as some units from County Correction Facilities in Brunswick County. We do appreciate all of the help. It would be wonderful if we didn’t have to make such an effort to clean up the roads around the lake. If only people would be responsible enough to deposit their trash in proper containers instead of the roads. How easy this would be. But we can always hope …
Volunteers are always welcome; just contact us or if you see an area that needs help, feel free.
