9th Annual Lake Clean-Up on the way

June 1st is the date for this year’s Lake Clean-up Day. In fact, we would like to make June Lake Clean-up Month with our kickoff on June 1st. This year we will have two manned stations on June 1st with dumpsters from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. They will be at Washburn’s as before and this year the other station will be at AF Wake at the south end of Eaton Ferry Bridge. We hope that we can count on you to help with this very worthwhile project.

You can help us by bringing any yard trash, road trash or shoreline trash to one of our stations. If this date or time is not good for you, then you can take any of the above to your local convenience center. Many HOA’s have their own clean-up day. In regard to the road trash, we appreciate whatever you can do with this problem SAFELY. It is such a shame that those who throw their trash out of their car, don’t have more respect for our roads and expect others to clean up after them.

Each of the five counties are notified of the LGA Clean-Up day and they do their best to help us when they can schedule it.

In addition, several organizations around the lake support our effort. The Lake Gaston Striper Club collects trash from several of our islands. The Coast Guard Auxiliary is on the water in case of an emergency. We have also had support from Dominion Energy, Lake Gaston Water Safety Council, the FABS and many subdivisions and HOA’s.

Volunteers are always welcome; just contact us or if you see an area that needs help, feel free.

If you have any questions or suggestions and want to indicate your willingness to participate, please do not hesitate to contact us at the email below or call us at (252) 586-6577 or 1-888-586-6577. We thank you for your support of the LGA and our efforts to preserve and protect Lake Gaston.
