LGA Minutes for the March 4, 2020, Monthly Meeting (APPROVED) Lake Gaston Baptist Church
The meeting began at 9:45 AM with a welcome from Vice President Brian Goldsworthy. Brian then led the assembled in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and requested a moment of silence. In attendance we had Directors’ Jeff Dowhan, Jack Saunders, Bill Heflin, Al Potter, Tony Moran, Judy Waters, Jeff Zimmer, David Murphy, John Cataldo and Executive Director Moira Underwood. President Don Carson was traveling.
There were 55 members/guests in attendance.
A motion to approve the agenda was made by Bill Heflin, seconded by John Cataldo and passed.
Director Bill Heflin introduced our guest speaker Attorney Tom Skinner. Tom has practiced real estate law for over 30 years. His comments addressed the fact that primary/secondary homeowners and those that purchase for investment (rental properties) both have defined property rights.
It was good to see many HOA officers in attendance and listening as Tom weaved through issues involving covenants and liens. A takeaway was if part of an HOA, make sure the covenants are periodically updated and are consistent with county zoning requirements. Tom graciously spent ample time answering the many audience questions. The feedback was this was a good and timely meeting.
We provided some committee updates which are elsewhere in the Bulletin and or web site. Attendees were reminded of the Annual Shred Day scheduled for April 25, 2020, at the RWVFD fire station on Lizard Creek Road.
Those is attendance had no further questions and the meeting was adjourned at 10:45 AM.
