Welcome to the Lake Gaston Association
|The LGA is a citizens' organization that actively advocates and promotes the interests of households and businesses who own property in the two states and five counties of Lake Gaston. Each of the five counties surrounding Lake Gaston has four volunteer Director positions on the LGA Board, plus one at large position for a total of 25 Directors. We are a volunteer, non-profit, nonpartisan and nonsectarian organization, unified for greater influence with our federal, state and local officials and agencies that have management authority on and around Lake Gaston NC & VA.|

Celebrating 27 years in 2017
LGA’s 4th Annual Community Paper Shred – April 15, 2017
The Lake Gaston Association will sponsor its Fourth Community Paper Shred on Saturday, April 15 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The collection will be accomplished in the lower parking area at the Roanoke-Wildwood Volunteer Fire Department at 790 Lizard Creek Rd.
Items to be shredded can include any old paper records; staples and paper clips need not be removed, but please no three ring binders or heavy metal clamps. We can accept any amounts that can be processed in the time period. The truck mounted shredder consumes about 10 book boxes/cases of paper every 8 minutes. People can stand and watch while the paper is shredded.
The shredding is professional grade and is the same level of shredding contracted by banking institutions. Donations will be accepted to help defray costs.
For more information contact (252) 586-6577 or 1-888-586-6577 or email@example.com.
To identify lake issues affecting our members and pursue resolution with the responsible organizations.
LGA membership is comprised of both households and businesses on and around Lake Gaston NC & VA; many of whom have permanent homes elsewhere, and own vacation property on the Lake.
Our property owners are located in five counties that span the two states bordering Lake Gaston: North Carolina and Virginia. Because of our geographical disbursement, and the inability of many of our part time members to vote on local issues. The Lake Gaston Association actively provides them with a voice in all issues and concerns that could affect their enjoyment of the Lake.
A key service to our membership is keeping them informed and soliciting their feedback on those key issues and concerns through regular emails, a bi-monthly Bulletin, this web site, and periodic surveys. To learn more about the services the LGA provides and the projects we are involved in, we invite you to stroll through the pages of this site. If you are not a member, but own property in the Lake Gaston area, or simply have an interest in preserving the many benefits the Lake provides, consider adding your voice to ours by joining today.
LGA Runs on Volunteerism
As you will note as you peruse the pages of this web site, the Lake Gaston Association is heavily involved in protecting and preserving our Lake Gaston Community on many fronts. The work involved in educating ourselves, keeping our members informed and pursuing resolution of issues is extensive.
With the exception of our part time Executive Director, all this extensive work is performed by dedicated volunteers. The goal for the makeup of our six standing Committees – Government Relations, Environment, Public Safety, Planning and Development, Marketing and Membership and Lake Clean Up – is to have volunteer members from each of our five counties represented on each of these Committees. In addition, each of our volunteer Directors is expected to serve on at least two of these committees.
When our Board and each of our Committees are fully staffed, the time requirement for each volunteer is minimal, and the work can be lots of fun. Not only do they get to serve their respective communities, but also they learn the inner workings of local governments and the other organizations that can have a significant impact on the quality of life here at Lake Gaston.
If you think the work of the Lake Gaston Association is worthwhile and would like to be part of this important effort, contact firstname.lastname@example.org and we will discuss how your services might best benefit the Association and the Lake Gaston NC & VA community.
The Lake Gaston Association continues to be your primary voice on the Lake and we are providing significant volunteer time to the improvement of the lake's water quality, health of the fishery, and recognition of first responders.
Our committees have done a solid job this past year in representing our members, gaining significant agreements with the USACE and Dominion Power regarding high water levels, holding political forums, representing you at the various County Commissioner / Supervisor meetings, and hosting a number of community service events (including Lakeside Learning Days, Lake Clean-Up Day, community shred events, fire safety events, the annual aquatic survey, re-vegetation events and more).
Not everyone is able to personally participate in such activities, but if you would like, and are able to play a larger part to help finance these worthwhile activities, please consider donating to the LGA.
